In this Dinja Waħda activity, students became more aware of the repect we shoud show towards robins. The robin is a migratory bird that migrates south in autumn. Robins arrive in Malta in mid-October and some of them spend the winter here. In March, robins migrate back north to reproduce. In class, students discussed a story about a boy who used to trap robins. Then they made pom-pom robins and displayed them in class and on the Green Board.
This Dinja Waħda activity consists of keeping up a nature board. Our school Nature Board is set up in the school foyer and is taken care of by Ms. Josianne Hili. On the board students can find information about nature and the environment. Students’ work related to the Dinja Waħda project is also displayed on the board.
On Wednesday 10th March 2010 Year 6 students visited is-Simar and Għadira Nature reserves as part of the Dinja Waħda environmental project. Students were divided into two groups and each group visited one of the reserves. The educational outing consisted of a short talk about wildlife found in the reserves and a tour around the reserves. Children had the opportunity to do some bird watching sessions as well. Students were encouraged to take pictures of plants, insects and animals that they saw in the reserve. All students who attended said that it was a relaxing and wonderful experience as they all felt close to nature. Here are some pictures of our outing!
On Wednesday 3rd March 2010 our school participated in the College Futsal Tournament organised at the Centenary Stadium Ta’ Qali. The teams included students from Years 5, 6 and 7. Our school played against teams from other Primary schools within St. Theresa College, namely, Santa Venera, Msida and Birkirkara. Our students managed to obtain a draw against Birkirkara Primary, lost against Msida but won against Santa Venera. Although we did not manage to pass to semi-finals it was still a wonderful experience for our students; both players and spectators.
Here are some pictures of our teams and supperters!
Wishing all students from Year 4 to Year 7 to get through their examinations successfully. Try to do your best kids!!!!
